Lexington School District Four

The Office of Exceptional Children directs and supports the development, implementation, operation, and evaluation of Pre K–12 educational programs, curricula, and services that meet the unique needs of Lexington Four’s exceptional children. The Office of Exceptional Children directs and supports programs including Special Education, Gifted and Talented, Section 504, and Medicaid.  The office plans and offers professional development for staff and administrators. It also provides instructional leadership, supervision, coordination, and evaluation of early childhood, elementary, secondary, career, and transition programs and services.

Our mission is to provide the highest quality educational services to exceptional students by implementing research and standards-based interventions, instruction, and assessments as we prepare them to become productive, responsible members of their community.

NOTICE OF DESTRUCTION OF EDUCATIONAL RECORDS:

YOU WILL PLEASE TAKE NOTICE that on July 31, 2023, Lexington County School District Four (Gaston-Swansea) will destroy personally identifiable information in special education records of those students who last received special education services during school years 2010 – 2017 and/or student date of birth is January 1, 1996 or earlier.   The personally identifiable information contained in these special education records are no longer needed to provide educational services to the aforementioned students, nor are they needed for monitoring or auditing purposes.  Parents of these students or the Student, where he or she has reached the age of majority, have a right to request and obtain copy of any records that contain personally identifiable information of that student.  If you wish to receive a copy of personally identifiable records or otherwise object to the destruction of these records, please contact the Lexington County School District Four Office of Exceptional Children no later than July 28, 2023
